03/21/2018 09:00 AMWith spring around the corner, it’s time to warm up the vocal chords and hit the high notes-and there’s no better singing company to keep then the Choral Club of Clinton (CCC).
The club officiated kicked off its 92nd season on March 6 with rehearsals for its annual concert at the United Methodist Church of Clinton on Sunday, June 3. President Gail Carlisle said the club is still looking for new singers, particularly tenor and bass voices.
“Joining choral club gives people a chance to sing and have fellowship with other singers. Our only requirement to join is a love of singing,” said Carlisle.
According to its press release, the club has held concerts every year since 1926, “except for the war years,” performing a wide range of musical styles, including popular music, show tunes, and symphony music.
“It’s been a tradition singing with choral club since it is one [of], if not the first choral group in state, beginning in 1926,” said Carlisle. “Again this year, the Old Saybrook Chamber Singers will be invited performers at the concert. These high school students tour New England each year, have performed with professional singers, and have been invited to perform for the Connecticut ACDA Conference next October. They are very talented and CCC is proud to have them join the group. The second act of the concert in June will feature the music of John Denver. The Singers will be part of this also.”
Tickets for the Choral Club of Clinton concert are on sale in early May. Carlisle said there is a suggested donation of $15 to $20, and “tickets are always available at the door.”
The Choral Club of Clinton rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings at the United Methodist Church of Clinton, 12 Commerce Street. For more information or to discuss joining the club, call Carlisle at 860-669-2702.
