Following the horrific Feb. 14 school shooting incident where a former student infiltrated a Florida high school and killed 17 people, Branford Public Schools and the Branford Police Department have issued a joint press release notifying of the resolution of an investigation involving a reported trespassing incident at Branford High School on Feb. 15.

The joint release, issued on Feb. 16, explains that Branford police detectives worked in coordination with school district officials on Feb. 15 to investigate a trespassing complaint at Branford High School, 185 East Main St., concerning a juvenile suspect who was not a Branford student.

The release goes on to that state that, during the incident, no threats were made toward any individual, group of students or staff.

In a joint statement on the district's and police departments commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment, Superintendent of Schools Hamlet Hernandez and Branford Police Chief Kevin Halloran stated, "Potential threats concerning the safety of students or schools, are taken seriously and if necessary, proper measures are implemented."
