January 29, 2018: State Representative Lonnie Reed (D, District 102) is alerting interested Branford residents to a Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) public hearing on the Eversource Energy rate hike request being held on Wednesday, January 31 at Branford Fire Department Headquarters (45 North Main St.). The hearing is at 6 p.m. in the Training Room.
All ratepayer and consumers are invited to attend and to testify and submit questions to PURA Commissioners. The proposed rate hike is estimated to increase consumers' monthly electric bill by an average of six dollars. The fee increase will take effect May 1 if approved.
"As House chair of the legislature's Energy and Technology Committee, many people have reached out to me with questions about the proposed rate hike. I encourage residents who would like to learn more or are interesting in sharing their opinion to attend the hearing on January 31," Rep. Reed said.
Consumers can also submit comments to PURA via email at PURA.ExecutiveSecretary@ct.gov. Comments should reference Docket Number 17-10-46. A guide to PURA public hearings is available on the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection website.
