Ford is North Branford 2018 Teacher of the Year
For the many gains he's helped the school district, students and staff achieve, North Branford Public Schools has named Robert Ford 2018 Teacher of the Year.
"Rob is the true embodiment of a leader," said Superintendent of Schools Scott Schoonmaker, in a presentation recognizing Ford at the Nov. 16 Board of Education (BOE) meeting.
Ford teaches English at North Branford High School (NBHS) and is also involved as a district English Department chairman, NBHS Technology Liaison, SAT Test Coordinator and member of the Safe School Climate team. Recognized by his peers and in his field, Ford was selected to be a presenter at the 2016 National Council of Teachers of English Conference (Atlanta, GA).
Schoonmaker said Ford "...works to facilitate the growth of others" and is "supportive and dedicated to his colleagues and students."
"Rob consistently holds his students to high expectations and creates challenging yet accessible learning opportunities for all students," said Schoonmaker, adding, "Rob is not afraid to try new things or step out of his comfort zone. He worked to improve the success and accessibility of the AP program and he was instrumental in supporting new technology initiatives within classrooms district-wide."
Saying it was a "well-deserved" recognition, Schoonmaker congratulated Ford, adding, "...I know your administrators and co-workers are so happy for you."
Ford has been teaching with North Branford public schools for 13 years.
