'Good News:' North Branford Holly Fair Nov. 18
Members of the North Branford Congregational Church (NBCC) are again gearing up for the annual "Holly Fair", to be held at the church at 1680 Foxon Road this Saturday, November 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fair features a "wide assortment of holiday and gift items ranging from edibles to collectibles", according to fair coordinator Lisa Nanamaker. "We've imported a cheese wheel from Cabot's Creamery in Vermont, and our members have been busy making cookies, breads, jellies, and handcrafted items. We'll also be raffling chances to win a week at a Vermont county inn, dinner at Home Restaurant in Branford, garden items from Van Wilgen's, and a quilt lovingly made by members of our Ladies' Sewing Society. Additionally, fair goers will be able to enter drawings for many varied and exciting gift baskets. All in all, it's a fun way to spend a Saturday, while supporting our church and its many ministries.
Breakfast and lunch items will be available throughout the day at the fair's "Café' Noel".
A highlight of the fair is "The Good News Table", where visitors can learn more about the church and upcoming services and activities, especially those planned for Advent and Christmas.
"While we have all the wonderful ingredients of a traditional Christmas fair, we're also committed to keeping 'Christ in Christmas' by sharing our faith with our friends and visitors", according to Worship Team Co-Chair Joanne Palmieri. "At our table, you'll find spiritual and religious items and information, and have the opportunity to become involved with our church community. We've got a lot going on, and we're excited to meet our neighbors and invite them to worship with us!"
