ABOUT SHREK THE MUSICAL:
With music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, Shrek the Musical ran on Broadway from 2008 to 2010, garnering 10 Tony nominations.
Based on the Dreamworks motion picture, Shrek The Musical tells the story of a big, green ogre. Rejected and ostracized because of his appearance, Shrek lives alone until the day the FairyTale characters are banished to his swamp by Lord Farquaad. Wanting to get rid of the new swamp-dwellers, Shrek negotiates a deal with Lord Farquaad: rescue Princess Fiona from Far Far Away and bring her back to marry Lord Farquaad, and in exchange, receive the deed to the swamp.
Joined on the mission by a wise-cracking, yet insightful, Donkey, Shrek's journey becomes one of personal transformation, as he opens his hardened heart to friendship and love, falling for the beautiful Fiona, who herself bears an unsightly burden.
A feel-good story, brimming with positive messages of acceptance and self-confidence, Shrek the Musical will be sure to have audiences of all ages cheering along as the characters let their "Freak Flag" fly and learn the meaning of true love.
