Walmart Shoplifter Arrested in Old Saybrook
A Higganum man is under arrest in Old Saybrook after he stole a BB gun from Walmart.
According to Old Saybrook Police, Tyler Kusta, 21, of Higganum, was arrested on Friday, Nov. 10 after he was located inside a liquor store at the Old Saybrook Shopping Center.
Police had been called to Walmart, 665 Boston Post Road, on the report that a male subject had shoplifted and was possibly armed with a knife and firearm. The investigation revealed that Kusta had visited the liquor store, purchased tequila, and then proceeded to Walmart where he stole items including a .357 BB Gun. He then returned to the liquor store. When police arrived, Kusta was asking the store clerk if he could "use the computer behind the counter to charge his phone."
The stolen BB gun was found in Kusta's backpack along with his cellphone and charging cable.
Kusta was charged with two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon and larceny in the sixth degree. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
