North Branford Musicians Help Co-Op Marching Band Win
Since 2015, a small group of North Branford High School (NBHS) musicians have competed as part of the East Haven High School (EHHS)/NBHS Co-Op Marching Band. On Sat., Sept. 30, the Co-op Marching Band took first place and several awards while competing at Rocky Hill High School during the U.S. Bands competition.
According to a press release from NBHS, the Co-op Marching Band won First Place for Group IIA, received all caption awards including Best Music, Best Overall Effect, and Best Visual, and also received the highest score of all 13 bands in every group size competing that evening.
NBHS Band Director Katie Trainer is the EHHS/NBHS Co-Op Marching Band Woodwinds Instructor. Band leadership also includes Band Director Matt Laudano, Pit Instructors Matt Torcellini and Sean Griffin, Color Guard Instructor Mary-Ann Bucci and Marching and Brass Instructor Tyler Miller.
