Killingworth 350th Anniversary Parade & Picnic Schedule
The Killingworth 350th Anniversary Parade & Picnic is on Saturday, Sept. 2 with events running from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Town Parade
The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the corner of Stevens Road and Route 81, and proceeds north to Recycle Way/Rocco Field. It’s scheduled to include two fife and drum corps, vintage vehicles, floats, Haddam-Killingworth marching bands, and marchers from local organizations.
Parking is available for parade spectators at local businesses along the parade route and the front lawn of the Congregational Church.
Town Picnic
The Town Picnic begins at noon. All Town Picnic events are at Parmelee Farm, Route 81.
12:30 p.m.: Welcome to the 350th Celebration
Noon to 3:30 p.m.: Family activities and contests, hosted by HK Youth & Family Services include inflatable dual obstacle course; giant Jenga, bowling, tic-tac-toe, and dice games; and sack races, wooden spoon and egg relays, three-legged race, and human wheelbarrow races
1 to 3 p.m.: Guided wilderness trail tours—Killingworth Land Trust
3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Presentation including proclamation of Killingworth’s Citizen of the Year and award-winners.
5 to 6 p.m.: Braiden Sunshine—finalist on NBC’s The Voice
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. String of Pearls 17-piece big band
Parking is $5 at H-K Middle School and Killingworth Elementary School (KES). Parking is also available at St. Lawrence Church and Recycle Way/Rocco Field. Shuttle buses will run continuously from KES, St. Lawrence Church, and Recycle Way/Rocco Field to Parmelee Farm from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
