Vehicle Break-In Suspect Arrested in East Haven
East Haven Police have arrested a man who was seen entering vehicles near Dodge Avenue.
According to Police, officers were dispatched to Dodge Avenue on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 11:37 p.m. for a report of a subject attempting to enter motor vehicles. Officers were given a description of the suspect and saturated the area. While searching for the suspect, officers observed a man matching the description walking north on French Avenue.
A one-on-one identification was conducted with the complainant who positively identified the suspect as the man seen entering vehicles. Police identified the suspect as Joshua Bethke, 30, of East Haven.
At the time of his arrest, Bethke was in possession of a box of loose change located in his waistband area. Bethke was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree and two counts of larceny in the sixth degree.
Police continue to urge residents to lock their vehicle doors and equip their properties with proper lighting and, if possible, surveillance cameras.
