• Lauren Ann Danner, a teacher at North Branford High School, has been selected to receive the Secondary School Science Teacher of the Year award by the Connecticut Science Teacher Association.

Appointments
The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA) has installed Bradley D. Kronstat, CPA of Guilford to serve as president for the organization’s 2017-2018 activity year. His installation took place at the CTCPA Annual Meeting held recently at the Hawk’s Landing Country Club in Southington. Mr. Kronstat is the assistant controller of Connecticut Gardens, LLC, in North Branford. He holds a B.S. in accounting from Case Western University. Mr. Kronstat has also served CTCPA as treasurer; as chair of the committees on State Legislation, Professional Ethics, and Business/Education/Government; as a member of the Board of Directors and the Advisory Council; and as a member of committees on Bylaws, Executive Search, Financial Literacy, Golf Tournament, Nominating, and Publications.

• Laura Pantani of Branford, a maternal child health nurse for the nonprofit home healthcare agency VNA Community Healthcare, recently became an international board certified lactation consultant. Earning the credential requires 90 hours of lactation education, 1,000 hours of clinical experience in breast feeding, and passing an exam.
“Many women experience breastfeeding problems, such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, and low milk production. We are so pleased to have an expert Lactation Consultant available to help these new moms and babies,” stated Sue Brinigar, RN supervisor of VNA Community Healthcare’s Maternal Child Health program.
