East Haven Animal Shelter Participating in NBC Connecticut’s Annual Clear the Shelters Event
The East Haven Animal Shelter has announced that on Saturday, Aug. 19 it will be participating in NBC Connecticut’s annual Clear the Shelters event activities. The facility, under the direction of Animal Control Officer Owen Little, is a community shelter that provides food, water, veterinarian care, refuge, and compassion for lost, abandoned, abused, unwanted, and neglected animals.
Assistant Animal Control Officer Sean Godejohn said, “Last year was a great success with Clear the Shelters. We saw half of our dogs and cats get great homes. It’s very rewarding for myself and the staff of the East Haven Animal Shelter to see the animals we worked so hard to care for get adopted into a loving home.”
On Aug. 19 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., the East Haven Animal Shelter will waive the adoption fees on dogs and cats. All dogs and cats will be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and up to date on all vaccinations and heartworm tested.
Last year more than 20,000 animals were adopted nationwide on a single day and 53,000 including the three weeks leading up to the event. The state’s program is hosted by NBC Connecticut with news anchor Heidi Voight, this year’s talent ambassador.
