Hometown Help: Homemaker's Gives $6K to Branford Charities
In another show of hometown help that's been its mission since 1976, non-profit Homemaker Thrift Shop recently delivered $6,000 in contributions to six Branford charitable groups.
Now celebrating it's 41st year, non-profit Homemaker's has, to date, given over $400,000 back to the community. The most recent contributions once again supported Branford Food Pantry, Community Dining Room, Orchard House Adult Medical Day Care, Branford Emergency Fuel Assistance Fund, Branford Medical Transportation, and Branford Counseling Center's "Basic Needs" program. All of the programs received a check for $1,000 from Homemaker's.
The annual contributions to the community groups continues under the direction of the all-volunteer Homemakers board, led by president Pat Mansfield.
A small army of Homemaker volunteers donate their time to help stock inventory contributed by community members and others. Many of the volunteers have been with Homemaker's for 15 to 25 years. Contributions of gently-used home decor, gadets, great clothes, accessories and much more are in stock. All proceeds benefit local Branford charitable causes.
