North Haven Project Graduation Moves to New Location
The 30th year of Project Graduation in North Haven could be the biggest yet, as this year’s event on Wednesday, June 21 will take place at The Only Game in Town.
Kids will have access to mini-golf, go karts, and the arcade, and the area of the driving range will have activities, such as an obstacle course.
The event will run from about 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. the next morning, and students will be bussed from the high school to the location after graduation.
“It celebrates the senior class,” said Project Graduation Co-Chair Ron Bathrick.
Bathrick said the event is a way to keep the kids off the road and in a safe environment. He also said The Only Game in Town will be exclusive to Project Graduation that night, and the public will not be allowed in.
He also wanted to thank the Washington Avenue McDonalds, Stop & Shop, High School Principal Dr. Russell Dallai, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Cronin for their help.
“We just couldn’t have done it without them,” said Project Graduation Co-Chair Wendy Marinelli.
She also wanted to thank a group of four seniors, who she said had been at every fundraiser, which included car washes and bake sales.
Bathrick said he thought it was going to be a struggle, but was surprised with how the community contributed. He said he thought it was because the event was being held in town for the first time that caused local business to donate more than they previously have.
“We’re so excited, I think more so than the kids,” said Marinelli.
