Reg. 4 Schools Announces New Business Manager
The Chester, Deep River, Essex, and Region 4 Public Schools are pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Allen to the position of business manager. Allen will be replacing Garth Sawyer, who has been the business manager for the Chester, Deep River, Essex, and Region 4 Schools for the past 10 years.
During his tenure, Sawyer has developed positive relationships through building trust and transparent fiscal systems with school districts, towns, and community members. Sawyer will be continuing his career in South Carolina where he and his family will be residing.
Most recently, Allen served as the business manager for North Stonington Public Schools in North Stonington for the past four years. Prior to her experience in North Stonington, she served as the fiscal specialist at regional educational service LEARN. She has extensive knowledge in budget preparation, journal entries, cash management systems, grants, negotiations, contracts, and payroll. Of her many accomplishments, Allen spearheaded implementation of new accounting processes, restructured financial reporting processes, and improved cafeteria finances.
Allen completed her bachelor of science degree in business administration at Eastern Connecticut State University and her master of science degree in school business leadership at Wilkes University.
The Search Committee was very impressed with Allen’s knowledge, commitment to excellence, detail and accuracy in reporting, and communication skills. The Supervision District Board of Education unanimously endorsed Allen on May 22 at a Board of Education meeting.
The board is confident that Allen will be an excellent addition to the Chester, Deep River, Essex, and Region 4 communities.
Allen resides in Niantic with her husband. She will begin her tenure in the Chester, Deep River, Essex, and Region 4 Public Schools on July 1.
