Saybrook Settles Labor Lawsuit
The town and former Water Pollution Control Authority employee Michael Evangelisti recently reached a settlement agreement of a long-simmering labor dispute leftover from former first selectman Michael Pace’s tenure in town hall.
The town last week agreed to pay Evangelisti $10,000 to settle a lawsuit he had filed over an employment dispute with the town.
“We were able to reach agreement with him before the lawsuit proceeded to trial on June 1,” said First Selectman Carl Fortuna, Jr.
“Mike Evangelisti has volunteered a lot of time for the town both on the Water Pollution Control Authority and in the advice he has passed on. I’m glad we’re able to put this [dispute] behind us, both for the town and Mike’s sake, and agree amicably to this settlement.”
The Board of Finance agreed last week with Fortuna’s recommendation to pay Evangelisti the $10,000 to settle the court case. No town meeting action is required.
