Two-Car Collision Leaves One Dead, One Seriously Injured in Clinton
One person is dead and another is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a two-car head-on collision on Thursday, May 4.
Clinton Police, Clinton Fire, and EMS responded to the accident at 3:43 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Route 81 and Rocky Ledge Drive. Upon arrival emergency personnel determined that both operators were seriously injured and required extrication by the fire department to free them from their vehicles.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles, and they were transported to area hospitals with serious life threatening injuries. Andrew Asermely, 60, of Killingworth, was pronounced dead at the scene of accident due to significant injuries he sustained. The operator of the second vehicle, Deidre Koziel, 48, of Middletown, also sustained serious injuries and is being treated at Yale New Haven Hospital.
No further information will be released pending notification of next of kin. Invesgitation into the accident is in its preliminary stages. More information will be released as it becomes available.
