Celebrate the Opening of Shoreline Greenway Trail in Farm River State Park
On Thursday, May 11 at 10 a.m., the Shoreline Greenway Trail will celebrate the opening of an expanded trail segment in Farm River State Park.
The construction of a widened, stone-topped Shoreline Greenway Trail through Farm River State Park has been completed along with two beautiful bridges. Trail construction was made possible with State of Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection matching grant funds. This multi-use trail connects users to nature and is safe for walking and biking. It traverses Farm River State Park to a completed section of Shoreline Greenway Trail at the D.C. Moore School property.
The Shoreline Greenway Trail thanked Scoutmaster Ned Taylor’s Boy Scout Troop 401 for clearing the path in 2010 and Josh Ryan, designer and trail builder for constructing the trail. The trail committee also thanked Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr., for his constant support and for allowing East Haven Public Works to ready the trail for construction, as well as Town Engineer Kevin White, Public Works Supervisor Charles Coyle, and the East Haven Public Works crew.
Participants should meet at 10 a.m. at the entrance to the park on Pevetty Drive—left from Mansfield Grove Road. Parking is at Shoreline Greenway Trail Trailhead on Mansfield Grove Road and parking areas at D.C. Moore School property at Hoop Pole Lane.
