Ida Macri, a resident of Talmadge Park in East Haven, celebrated her 104th birthday on April 6. Town Council Chairman Fred Parlato was in attendance to deliver a proclamation on behalf of Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr.

At 104 years old, Macri is still active and energetic. Her friends say she has a quick wit, and has a great attitude about life.

She said her secret to living a long life is to take every day as it comes, and she even does crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp.

Talmadge Park staff recently took her to Sandpiper for a meal in honor of the occasion.
