All Items Pass at Westbrook Town Meeting
Electors at the March 27 Town Meeting passed all four of the items listed on the Call.
Adopted was a request to grant an easement to the owners of 105 Old Mail Trail over part of the town’s public right-of-way known as Old Mail Trail to allow the owners to make a needed septic repair.
Also approved was a request to modify the town’s Code of Ordinances to amend permit fees related to Building Department applications. As explained previously by Building Official David Maiden, the changes are to improve the transition from paper applications to on-line permits. The town within the next two months plans to open the new Municity public portal that will allow contractors and applicants to file and track building department applications and scheduled inspections online.
In other action, the Town Meeting adopted an amended resolution providing continued tax relief for elderly homeowners who qualify based on their income and accepted an easement for access and parking purposes from CMS Real Estate, LLC, to the town for property behind 20 Westbrook Place. The town had sought the easement in order to develop a future driveway and parking behind the Westbrook Place storefronts, should funding become available. The easement sunsets after five years if the town has not made progress on the project.
