Westbrook’s Sidewalk Public Workshop Re-Scheduled
The Town of Westbrook has been working on a long-term goal of providing more sidewalks in the community to improve pedestrian access and this survey is intended to give Westbrook residents an opportunity to guide this process. As part of this, the town is conducting an online survey at www.westbrookct.us to get input from residents and property owners about sidewalk priorities in the community.
A Town of Westbrook public workshop on the sidewalk plan scheduled for March 29 has been re-scheduled for Thursday, June 29 and the survey will be kept open until Monday, April 10. Anyone who has completed the survey can edit responses up until the time the survey is closed.
The survey asks questions about sidewalk priorities and desires for five areas: Town Center Core, Town Center Periphery, west along Route 1 from the Town Center toward Clinton, east along Route 1 from the Town Center toward Old Saybrook, and north from the Town Center toward the high school and the YMCA.
Westbrook residents and property owners are encouraged to participate in the survey to ensure that sidewalk planning reflects community priorities and desires.
If there is a specific sidewalk segment shown on the maps that survey responders feel should not be installed, comments can be added under question 4, which was intended to see if responders agree (or disagree) with the locations as shown on the maps. General comments can be added under question 11. For those who wish to view the sidewalk segments in more detail, a layer has been added to the On-Line Mapping system entitled “Sidewalk Concept Plan.” A direct link to the mapping system has been added to the survey.
