Clinton Police Apprehend Deep River Man with Marijuana, Weapons
A speeding stop led to drug and weapons charges for Jon Corriveau, 25, of Deep River late last month.
Shortly after midnight on Feb. 24, Clinton Police Officer Jason Frey pulled Corriveau over for speeding on Route 81 near Egypt Lane. Frey detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
When a second officer arrived to assist, police examined Corriveau’s vehicle and located marijuana, weapons, cash, and burglary tools, some in plain sight.
In total, police found 1.2 pounds of marijuana in a large plastic bag on the back seat, one marijuana cigarette in front passenger compartment, five assorted knives, a machete on the back sat on top of the package of marijuana, a lock pick set, and $155.
Corriveau was charged with possession of burglary tools, weapons in a motor vehicle, speeding, marker light violation, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of more than four ounces of marijuana. He was released on a $1,000 surety bond and is schedule to appear at Middletown Superior Court on Thursday, March 9.
