01/24/2017 01:00 PMAs state traffic approvals for the former Pratt & Whitney site are in the works, the North Haven Planning & Zoning Commission authorized an H-24, a municipal statute that will allow the town to take over 700 feet of Valley Service Road as the town works with the property owner, Rabina Properties, to extend road onto the property site.
“The road itself won’t be built right away; it will be built if the project itself goes through after clearing all of the hurdles,” said First Selectman Mike Freda. “As the building is being built, the road extension would be built as a parallel process.”
At this point, the project is in the process of gaining approval from the state traffic authority. Freda expects news on the approval by mid-February. When and if the approval from the state comes through, the next step is the client – which will not be named until the final documents are signed – and the property owner finalizing the details of the lease.
“I have been a part of many major business transactions in my business career before I took office and this project is among the most complicated I’ve ever been a part, but I still remain very optimistic,” said Freda.
