01/17/2017 02:15 PMWith the resignation of Zoning Enforcement Officer (ZEO) Nancy Rudek, town officials have now opened a search for her replacement.
The Board of Selectmen voted to accept Rudek’s resignation letter at a Jan. 3 BOS meeting and shortly thereafter, began to seek candidates for the open slot.
The ZEO job opening description, as posted on the town’s website under Employment Opportunities, in the local newspapers, and on a statewide website used by ZEOs, notes the town is seeking “a hands-on experienced and self motivated zoning enforcement officer professional reporting to the Zoning Commission. The ZEO performs inspections, investigative and administrative duties to assure that residential, commercial, and other properties comply with Zoning.”
Applicants were asked to send a cover letter and resume by mail to the First Selectman by today, Thursday, Jan. 19.
Rudek had served as town ZEO for more than a decade. In the last year, Lisa deMaria of the Land Use Department, was appointed as assistant zoning/wetlands officer. In this role, deMaria provided back-up and support for Rudek. As a result, with Rudek now gone, deMaria will assume many of the ZEO’s duties until the town appoints a permanent ZEO to the open slot.
