Elderly Victim Succumbed to Injuries in Madison Parking Lot Accident
An elderly woman struck by a car in the Stop & Shop parking lot Thursday afternoon has died. The victim, Marjorie Ehrenfreund, 85, was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries, according to the Madison Police Department.
Police report that at approximately 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, the Madison Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call about the accident. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on scene and was cooperating with investigators.
Police said Ehrenfreund appeared to have suffered from broken bones and possibly head trauma .
Madison Police Captain Joseph Race said on Jan. 12 that police were still compiling details on the accident.
"The traffic team is just getting out there and talking to the driver," he said. "I know it [the accident] was right up against the building close to where the bottle exchange area is."
The accident is being investigated by the South Central Regional Traffic Unit and members of the Madison Police Department. Anyone with information regarding this accident is asked to contact the Madison Police Department at 203-245-2721.
