01/05/2017 11:00 PMEast Haven Police have released the identity of a pedestrian was was struck and killed by a motor vehicle on Thursday, Jan. 5.
Police were called to the scene shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on Coe Avenue. The pedestrian, identified as Colleen Carney, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital where she later died to the injuries sustained in the collision.
The vehicle involved in the collision, a 2014 BMW 535xi, remained on the scene with its two occupants including operator David Parise, 56.
A preliminary investigation shows that Parise was driving northbound on Coe Avenue was Carney was struck in the roadway. It was also determined that the collision did not occur in a crosswalk.
The accident is still under investigation by the South Central Connecticut Traffic. No charges have been filed against Parise. East Haven Police Officer Lieutenant Joseph Murgo said that the incident "appears to be just a tragic accident."
