On Oct. 27, the Westbrook Elks Lodge #1784 donated $3,200 in gift cards for supermarkets and department stores to Operation Elf. Operation Elf is part of the National Guard Foundation, a civilian non-profit organization that helps Connecticut National Guard families pay for food and other expenses. The money was raised at the Elk’s Sock Hop dance held earlier in the year.

Last year, the money raised at the Sock Hop was used to send care packages to Connecticut National Guard units deployed in the Middle East. This year, all Connecticut Guard units are home and the Elks decided to donate the proceeds to Operation Elf.
