There’s Black Friday, where shoppers stay up late or get up early to join the mobs of shoppers at malls and big-box stores. On Cyber Monday, some people will look for as many online deals as their work schedule allows. Fortunately for folks on the shoreline, there’s a local business community ready to welcome shoppers on Small Business Saturday.

Started by American Express, which still coordinates its Shop Small Saturday at shopsmallnow.americanexpress.com, the movement has taken root with numerous local businesses and organizations offering specials throughout the day.
