Branford Crash Causes Severe Injuries to Motorcyclist
A West Haven motorcyclist was severely injured, suffering life-threatening injuries, on Sunday, Nov. 13 at about 4:30 p.m. during a crash involving a car driven by a Branford resident.
The motorcyclist was struck as he was traveling on East Main Street at the intersection of Mill Plain Road.
Members of Branford Police and Fire Departments responded to the crash, which caused temporary road closures while members of the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit investigated the incident.
Branford Patrol Officer Corrianne Dione, who is investigating the crash, said that Christopher Scranton (DOB 7/7/64) of 75 Martin Street, West Haven, was traveling westbound on his Harley Davidson motorcycle when a vehicle traveling eastbound, being operated by Ellsworth Mcguigan (DOB 8/24/37) of 10 Riverside Drive, Branford attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Mill Plain Road, colliding with Scranton.
Scranton, who suffered life threatening injuries, was treated by Fire Department Paramedics and was immediately transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for further treatment. Mcguigan was uninjured.
