North Branford Votes for Trump
North Branford took its Republican roots to the bank on Election Day, with the town's tradition of supporting the GOP showing with high numbers for Republican President-elect Donald J. Trump. Voters chose Trump nearly two-to-one with 4,723 votes over to 2,933 cast for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
North Branford voters also showed overwhelming support for incumbent Republican State Representative Vincent Candelora, who was returned for a sixth term in the General Assembly's 86th District seat with 5,437 votes from residents. North Branford's electors cast 958 ballots for first-time 86th District challenger Vincent Mase, who ran as Unaffiliated.
State and national incumbent Democrats pulled off some very close wins in North Branford on Election Day. State Senator Ted Kennedy Jr. earned 3,303 North Branford votes while Republican challenger Bruce Wilson Jr. had a strong second place finish in town with 3,111 votes from residents.
Democratic incumbent U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal held onto to support from the majority of North Branford residents to win with 4,169 votes over Republican challenger Dan Carter, who received 3,074 votes in town.
Democratic incumbent U.S. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro also received the majority of votes in North Branford in her race against Republican Angel Cadena. DeLauro earned 4,301 votes over 3,027 cast for Cadena.
