Branford Voters Back Clinton & Dems
Sticking to Connecticut's status as a blue state, Branford voters turned out on November 8 to show their true-blue support, backing Democrats in the Presidential and state elections.
Branford voters selected Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton with 8,452 votes over Republican opponent Donald Trump, who earned 6,585 Branford votes.
Branford voters also selected incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and incumbent Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro; who both earned decisive Branford support with each receiving more than 5,000 votes over their Republican and other opponents.
In the state race, Branford pulled for incumbent Democratic State Senator Ted Kennedy Jr. , who won re-election with the help of over 10,049 Branford votes, defeating Republican challenger Bruce Wilson Jr., who received 5,090 votes in Branford.
Branford also gave another victory to incumbent Democratic State Representative Lonnie Reed, who was returned to her General Assembly 102nd District seat by nearly 2,500 votes over Republican challenger Chris Kelly. Reed earned 6,878 votes while Kelly gathered support from 5,068 Branford voters on Election Day.
The town's two Registrar of Voters were also re-elected, with Democrat Dan Hally receiving 8,085 votes and Republican Marion Burkard receiving 6,432 votes.
