A Look at the Fall Elections in Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook
In the Nov. 8 election, registered voters in Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook will cast ballots for
• President
• U.S. Senator
• U.S. Congress for District 2
• State Senate, District 33 and District 20
• State Representative, District 23 and 35
• local Registrars of Voters.

Here is a rundown of the 2016 races:
U.S. President: Listed on the ballot as presidential candidates (with their vice-presidential picks) are Democrat Hillary Clinton with Tim Kaine, Republican Donald Trump with Mike Pence, Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson with William Weld, and Green Party Jill Stein with Ajamu Baraka.
U.S. Senator: Running for U.S. Senate are incumbent Democrat Richard Blumenthal and challengers Republican Dan Carter, Libertarian Party candidate Richard Lion, and Green Party candidate Jeffery Russell. Blumenthal also appears on the ballot as the endorsed candidate of the Working Families Party.
U.S. Congress: On the ballot for U.S. Congress is incumbent Democrat Joe Courtney and challengers Republican Daria Novak, Libertarian Party candidate Daniel Reale, and Green Party Candidate Jonathan Pelto. Courtney is cross-endorsed on the ballot as the candidate of the Working Families Party.
State Senate District 20: Incumbent Republican Paul Formica is being challenged for the post by Democrat Ryan Henowitz. Formica is cross-endorsed on the ballot by the Independent Party and Henowitz is cross-endorsed by the Working Families Party. State Senate District 20 includes eastern Old Saybrook and seven towns east of the Connecticut River.
State Senate District 33: Incumbent Republican Art Linares, Jr., is being challenged by Democrat Norm Needleman and Green Party candidate Colin Bennett. Linares is also cross-endorsed on the ballot by the Independent Party. State Senate District 33 includes Clinton, Westbrook, and western Old Saybrook and nine Connecticut River valley towns .
State Assembly District 23: Incumbent Republican State Representative Devin Carney is running unopposed for this assembly seat. State Assembly District 23 serves southern Westbrook, Old Saybrook, Lyme, and Old Lyme.
State Assembly District 35: Incumbent Republican Jesse MacLachlan faces Democrat Ellen Dhalgren, Libertarian Party candidate Austin Coco, and Green Party candidate Ian Barron. State Assembly District 35 includes Clinton and northern Westbrook as well as Killingworth.
Old Saybrook Registrars of Voters: Joan Strickland is running for the post of Democratic Registrar of Voters and Joan Broadhurst is for Republican Registrar of Voters. Both candidates are unopposed.
Westbrook Registrar of Voters: Republican Nancy Moore is running for Republican Registrar of Voters. There is no endorsed candidate for the slot of Democratic Registrar of Voters. She is unopposed.
Clinton Registrar of Voters: Democrat June Hansen is the candidate for Democratic Registrar of Voters and Republican Peter Giannoti is the candidate running for Republican Registrar of Voters. Both are unopposed.
