Thank You, Hospice
Branford officials recently visited CT Hospice Inc. to show their appreciation for a collaboration, now completing it's third summer, which has made Hospice's Olympic-sized outdoor pool available to Branford residents for recreational use.
PRESS RELEASE, September 15, 2016: Hospice Appreciation Day was just recently held on Thursday, August 25 at the Branford Hospice Pool.
Recipients and town officials gathered for the event in Branford at The Connecticut Hospice Inc. world headquarters, located at the former Echlin headquarters and the historic Double Beach Club on Long Island Sound.
Participants included Branford First Selectman James B. Cosgrove, Alex Palluzzi, Jr., Director of Branford Parks & Recreation, Tony Confrancesco, Assistant Director of Hospice Facilities, Robert "Bobby" Martin, Director of Hospice Facilities, Tom McGovern, Hospice Chief Financial Officer, and former Branford First Selectman Anthony "Unk" DaRos, who accepted an award on behalf of Rosemary Hurzeller, Hospice Chief Executive Officer.
Hospice, along with the town of Branford and Branford Parks & Recreation Department, have partnered together over the past three summers to make Hospice's outdoor Olympic-sized swimming pool, once the centerpiece of the Double Beach Club, available to Branford residents.
Through this collaboration, the pool, which overlooks Long Island Sound, provides open public swim (including summer camp open swims & teen travel orientation), morning lap swimming, children's swim lessons and adult aqua-conditioning classes for close to 300 families and approximately 1,000 members.
