Branford Fire Department members helped a veteran stay cool during this weekend's heat wave by installing his air conditioner for him, and a post about the mission of mercy is getting a big response on the union's Facebook page.

On Saturday August 13, at 8:26 p.m., Branford Professional Firefighters Local 2533 posted a photo and the following message on the group's Facebook page: "Today members of Div. 4 stepped up when they learned of a veteran at home with no A/C. The veteran did have a window unit, but he was not able to install it on his own. The guys headed right over and took care of the small job. Strong work guys!"
