The baking heat gripping the region can be escaped at four town cooling centers.  Hours vary but the scope created by opening both town libraries, Town Hall and the town's Community Center covers early morning through late afternoons on weekdays with some centers open later into the evening, and others also open on weekend days. 

Town Manager Michael Paulhus shared that residents can get inside and enjoy climate controlled, air conditioned comfort at the following town designated cooling centers:

North Branford Town Hall, 909 Foxon Road: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Atwater Library, 1720 Foxon Road North Branford: Monday - Thursday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. - noon.

Edward Smith Library, 3 Old Post Road Northford: Monday - Thursday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. - noon.

Stanley T. Williams Community Center, 1332 Middletown Avenue, Northford:  Monday - Thursday 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 5:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.,  Saturday and Sunday 6:30 a.m. - noon
