Moran Named Old Saybrook Facilities Director
With town buildings valued at $30 million, the town’s Board of Selectmen voted on June 14 to hire a part-time facilities director to oversee them. Dan Moran was appointed to fill the slot; he previously served as chair of the Police Station Building Committee and, before retirement, was a manager in facilities management at Central Connecticut State University.
Fortuna said that the funding for the new post is already in the town budget.
“I’ve been urged to move forward on this [now] by the Board of Finance. What we do now is react to [building] problems. I’m hopeful that a [facilities director] will create a {town buildings] database and also track our town vehicles,” said Fortuna. “One of the first project for him is redoing The Kate’s lighting. They’ve had awful problems. This will be his first project.”
Moran will have a one-year contract with the town to work 15 hours per week for $20,000 annually.
