Westbrook Selectmen Approve Contracts

At a Board of Selectmen’s meeting last month, the BOS voted to approve a three-year contract with Greeenscape of Clinton to maintain fields for town and school sites.

The first year of the contract, the 2016-’17 school year, will cost the town $159,000.

In recommending the firm to the selectmen, Public Works Director John Riggio wrote, “Please be advised that I recommend them without reservation.”

The company has been doing the town’s field maintenance work for the past 10 years.

The Selectmen also approved a contract for Nosal Industries for $11,300 to repaint the Firehouse. The project will not include any sanding of the paint to avoid any potential lead contamination. However, the playground next to the Firehouse could be shut down for two days while the work proceeds. Money for the work was already included in the Fire Department budget for the current year.
