North Branford Pizza Wars Heat Up April 26
Who makes the best slice around? Seven local restaurants are ready to do battle to find out during North Branford Pizza Wars 2016. Makers of the town's finest pizzas will bring their best to the table at Totoket Valley Elementary School (TVES) on Tuesday, April 26 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. to let a hungry crowd decide.
Hundreds of residents have turned out in the past to taste, then vote, for their local favorite. This year's war will rage between North Branford and Northford restaurants Anthonoy John's Pizzeria, Giovanni's Pizzeria & Ristorante, LaMonaco's Pizza & Pasta, Louie's Slice Pizzeria, Pacileo's Apizza & Pasta, The Fire Pizza Company and Tony Z's Apizza.
North Branford Senior Program Coordinator and Pizza Wars organizer Kerry Haynes wants local pizza lovers to note that this year's battle lines are being drawn at TVES, which is a new location, due to presidential preference primary voting taking place next door in the Stanley T. Williams (STW) Community Center on April 26.
North Branford's Pizza Wars were established in 2010. Since then, bragging rights for North Branford's best have been spread among many worthy restaurants in the community, including several of this year's competitors. Last year, Tony Z's Apizza was named the 2015 champ.
The event once included specialty pies in the contest mix; but that's changed over time. This year's contest will feature the same topping on every pizza – cheese.
Desserts will be available from Pastry Fusion and a raffle and fun activities are also planned for this family night out.
The ticketed event ($5 per person, children under three free) not only names the best pizza in town, but also generates funds to benefit North Branford Senior Center programs and activities. Tickets are available in advance at STW or can be purchased at the door at TVES on April 26. For more information, call (203) 484-6017.
