West Haven Company Plans to Move to East Haven
A West Haven moving and storage company that has been in business for 106 years is planning to move its operation to a campus-like location on Commerce Street in East Haven.
Anthony Augliera Moving & Storage, currently located on Hamilton Street in West Haven, will be moving to a new, nearly three-acre location on 158 Commerce Street, land abutting the town’s Industrial Park.
“This relocation, while bringing a tremendous new business to East Haven, is also estimated to bring in $60,000 in new yearly tax revenue,” said Mayor Joseph Maturo in his recent State of the Town Address.
On its website, Anthony Augliera Moving & Storage says, “For four generations, Augliera Movers has been providing quality moving services throughout Connecticut and long distance.”
Economic Development Director and Director of Administration and Management Sal Brancati recently told the Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC) that Augliera is planning to develop a “campus” at the Commerce Street location.
Brancati said the site accommodates Augliera’s needs for parking for its vehicles. He told the PZC this move will be a boon to East Haven’s tax base because the company will pay personal property taxes on all its 15 trucks, which will be located at the East Haven site.
Brancati and Town Engineer Kevin White have inspected the 158 Commerce Street site and do not believe there will be an encroachment to nearby wetlands.
The timeline for the move has not yet been announced.
