04/12/2016 12:15 PMOn April 5, Westbrook electors took various actions including approval of $30,000 to buy a sliver of land from First Niagara Bank to expand town-owned land planned for more Town Center public parking.
Voters also accepted the state’s $200,000 Brownfields Assessment grant and appropriated the same amount to a project account. The funds will pay for the town to contract a licensed environmental professional to complete and environmental assessment of the former auto wrecker site and prepare a remedial action plan with cost estimates for it. This property, owned by an LLC whose principal is Paul Cusson, has for years been in arrears on town property taxes.
After substantial discussion, the voters decided to approve granting a five-foot easement on town property for a resident, Bob Mariano, owner of a property at 16 Menunketesuck Road. The purpose would be to allow a health-code compliant septic system to be installed on the property with the five-foot easement necessary to meet code requirements.
