03/29/2016 10:01 AMFor Immediate Release - March 29, 2016: In light of the growing opioid and heroin crisis on the shoreline and across Connecticut, State Representative Sean Scanlon (D, District 98-Guilford & Branford Stony Creek/Pine Orchard) will host a community forum tonight, open to all Branford residents who wish to learn how the crisis is impacting the town and region and what they can do to combat it. This is Scanlon's second community forum on the issue - the first was held in Guilford on February 23rd.
The forum will feature a panel discussion followed by taking questions and answers from the audience. Panelists include: Nancy Navarretta, Deputy Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services; Dr. J. Craig Allen, Medical Director, Rushford Center; Tom Corniello, Vice President of Clinical Services, BH Care; Marlene McGann, Executive Director, South Central Connecticut Substance Abuse Council; Capt. Geoffrey Morgan, Branford Police Department; Firefighter/Paramedic Amanda Mark, Branford Fire Department; and Michelle Sember providing "A Parent's Perspective."
The forum - which is open to the general public - will be on Tues. March 29 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in the meeting room at Branford Fire Headquarters (45 North Main St., Branford).
