03/01/2016 01:02 PMBranford town center will be getting a crepe shop "sandwiched" into some prime space on the town green. The enviable storefront space overlooking Main Street will be transformed from a retail shop to a bakery/crepery with table seating in the lobby.
On Feb. 18, Branford's Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a request from business owners Robert and Sara Amato of New Haven for a property change of use, from retail to restaurant space, in order to transform the interior of the shop into a bakery/crepery with seating for up to 15. The concept also received approval from Town Center Revitalization Review Board on Feb. 10.
The new business will be located in the storefront that was last home to Envy, a clothing boutique, at 1044 Main St.
Plans call for an onsite bakery kitchen at back, with a low wall in the lobby area separating three crepe stations. The lobby will include counter, table and booth seating for up to 15 customers, Robert Amato told the PZC on Feb. 18.
Once interior renovations are complete, tentative hours of business will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
