Branford’s Budding Talent on Display March 9
Vibrant paintings will fairly pop off the walls and art of many dimensions and types will take over the rotunda. From drawings to jewelry, works in clay and other mediums creating renderings both surreal and realistic, Branford’s budding artistic talent will be on display at the annual Branford Public School’s District Art Show, opening March 9 at the Blackstone Library.
This year's show features over 100 pieces of student work representing the town's Kindergarten through Grade 12 curriculum, said Laura Kaiser, a Fine & Practical Arts teacher at Branford High School. Kaiser is one of many district teachers helping to coordinate this year's event.
All floors of the library will become a stage for the student artists’ work. The entire exhibit will be officially unveiled at a special opening reception, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9.
The annual event always draws plenty of proud parents, educators, friends and fans (including members of Branford’s Board of Education) on opening night. But Kaiser’s also hoping that many members of the public will come out to show their support and take in the amazing work, in so many mediums, of many student artists of all ages, representing Branford Public Schools.
“We would love to get the word out,” said Kaiser. “It would be wonderful to have a well-attended opening.”
The BPS District Art Show will be on display at the Blackstone Library from March 9 through March 30. The public is encouraged to attend a special opening reception on Wed. March 9, 6 -8 p.m. (refreshments served). Branford’s Blackstone Library is located at 758 Main St.
