Souperbowl is This Weekend in Madison
It’s Souperbowl time—no, not SuperBowl 50 (that’s on Sunday, Feb. 7). This Saturday, Jan. 30 is the inaugural Madison Chamber of Commerce Souper Bowl, which will see downtown Madison flooded with soups, chilis, and stews from local restaurants all competing for top honors.
The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. directly downtown on the Post Road and more than 10 restaurants and civic groups have signed up to provide food for the competition. So far both fire departments, Donahue’s, the Madison Beach Hotel, Friends & Company, Café Allegre, The Hearth at Tuxis Pond, Madison House, Schoolhouse Deli, Moxie, and The Shoreline Vine are in the competition.
Part of the $10 admission will go to help Joe Barber, a Madison teen recovering from injuries suffered in a diving accident last summer.
The storm date for the event is Sunday, Jan. 31. For more information on the event or to pre-purchase a wristband, visit www.madisonct.com.
