Shore Line Trolley Museum Stacked with New Volunteers
The Shore Line Trolley Museum more than met its goal of getting a few new volunteers when at its recent open house for potential volunteers.
“We had 18 new individuals attend the open house. We were overwhelmed with the attendance,” said Museum General Manager Wayne Sandford.
“It looks like our 2016 new operator class will be starting Saturday, April 9 and [we] have a good group. Surprisingly, we not only had a number of retirees, but a few young folks—very exciting,” said Sandford.
The Shore Line Trolley Museum is a National Historic District. It is the oldest continuously operation suburban trolley line in the United States. Numerous trolleys are the first and last of a kind that have been brought back into service as part of the museum’s active restoration program.
The average age of the collection is more than 103 years old. The museum is an education non-profit with numerous free programs for the public. For more information, visit www.shorelinetrolley.org or call 203-467-6927.
