Second Branford Store Robbery in Two Days
December 20, 2015: Branford Police are investigating a second convenience store robbery since the weekend began on Friday, Dec. 18.
On Sun. Dec. 20, police responded to Branford Sunoco at 700 West Main Street (Rte. 1) just after 3:30 p.m., after the store clerk activated a holdup alarm. While enroute to the store, officers learned that the suspect had fled the store on foot in a westerly direction, toward Beaver Road. Arriving officers were able to secure the area until the department's K-9, Joker, and his handler Luigi Amasino arrived.
Sgt. Richard Dahlin, who was the supervising the scene, said Joker tracked into the area of Eli's Restaurant's rear parking lot; where they believe the suspect entered into a vehicle. Patrol Officer David Atkinson was able to locate video from a business in the area showing what police believe is the suspect's vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 35 years old, approximately 6' tall, with possibly dirty blond hair and a beard. He was wearing a black winter jacket, dark hat, sunglasses and jeans, carrying a black backpack or shoulder bag. The suspect displayed a handgun during the robbery.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a dark red or burgundy four-door sedan; possibly a late 1990's Infinity with a distinctive chrome front grille.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Branford Police Department at (203) 481-4241 or contact the Branford Crime Tip Line at (203)315-3909.
The incident remains under investigation.
