Tractor Supply Open for Business in Guilford

Guilford’s new Tractor Supply opened for business at 2945 Boston Post Road on Nov. 7.

From both the town of Guilford and Tractor Supply’s perspective, the store’s grand opening on Nov. 7 was an overwhelming win-win.

Tractor Supply Company, a 75-year-old nationwide chain of more than 1,400 stores, including one in Old Saybrook, sells items such as clothing, pet supplies, lawn and garden supplies, fencing, welding products, lawn mowers, generators, and tools. In Guilford, Tractor Supply is now open for business at 2945 Boston Post Road, near the Branford town line.

Tractor Supply Company spokesman Rob Hoskins said the company “is excited about being a new member of the Guilford...business community.

“As a growth minded company, Tractor Supply Company is always looking for potential new store locations that are a good fit as far as the target market is concerned,” said Hoskins.

“Concerning the location in Guilford, this was especially true in that the area was attractive due to the part-time and hobby farmers and horse owners in the area. The TSC product category expertise includes lawn and garden, and animal care products that service the needs of these customers.”

Hoskins said the Guilford Tractor Supply store location employs 12 full and part-time team members. The location in Guilford has approximately 19,000 square feet.

Guilford Economic Development Coordinator Brian McGlone said town officials are thrilled to have Tractor Supply become part of the town’s growing economic development circle. He pointed out Tractor Supply is located only a short distance down Route 1 from the recently opened Guilford Commons shopping complex.

“Many local members of our farming community have been asking for Tractor Supply to come to Guilford,” said McGlone. “Now that they have, our residents will be able to shop locally for many of their needs.

“The breadth of their products will certainly support the farming community and other trades people, along with many homeowner needs as well,” added McGlone.

McGlone noted the fact that Guilford has such a strong agricultural base was a strong selling point in attracting Tractor Supply to town in the first place.

Besides Old Saybrook, the store’s locations in Connecticut are Farmington, New Milford, Colchester, Barkhamsted, Vernon, Enfield, and North Windham.
