Steven Gernhardt did not run again on Nov. 3 for a seat on the Old Saybrook Board of Selectmen. As a result, on Nov. 10, he served his last official duty as town selectman.

First Selectman Carl Fortuna, Jr., Police Chief Michael Spera, and Selectman Scott Giegerich all offered remarks of praise and thanks to Gernhardt for his years of service to and on behalf of the town.

At the next Board of Selectmen’s meeting, Fortuna and Giegerich will welcome Democrat Carol Conklin as the newly-elected member of the Board of Selectmen.
