Injunction Denied; Farmer to be Sworn In as Clinton First Selectman

At 6 p.m. tonight, Clinton will officially have a new first selectman: Republican Bruce Farmer. Farmer was declared the winner of the Nov. 3 election that was originally a tie, but had Farmer ahead of incumbent Democratic First Selectman Willie Fritz as of a Nov. 7 recount.

Fritz had filed an appeal with the Connecticut Superior Court to halt the swearing in pending his challenge for a runoff election following the recount, which uncovered several irregularities int eh vote count. The injunction appeal was denied late this afternoon.

The Harbor News/Zip06.com will attend the swearing in and provide updates, as applicable, on any further plans to pursue a runoff.
