• Representative Sean Scanlon (D-Guilford, Branford) received AIDS Connecticut’s 2015 Clarence Daniels Award for Outstanding Advocacy for his efforts to pass Public Act 15-198: An Act Concerning Substance Abuse and Opioid Overdose Protection. The new law, PA 15-198, took effect on Oct. 1.
• Ilya Shavrov, son of Michael and Svetlana Shavrov, was named as the Branford Rotary Club’s September Student of the Month.
• Susan T. Wakefield of North Branford was elected as a new board member for Operation Fuel.
